PDO Mono Threads

improve skin elasticity, skin texture and tightening

Mono threads become a support structure, allowing natural collagen production to take place

PDO Mono threads are smooth on the surface and are used to address specific areas of the face and body where you would like to improve skin elasticity, skin texture and tightening. Mono threads come in a wide range of sizes to address all parts of the face and body.

Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament. These threads are smooth and made without barbs which are minimally invasive. Many times, Mono Threads are inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern to achieve maximum tightening effects.

After entering the skin, the threads activate collagen synthesis for a gradual skin tightening and skin rejuvenation effect. While Mono Threads tighten the skin, they do not significantly lift it.

These skin tightening treatments can be used to rejuvenate collagen treating neck sagginess, forehead lines, and facial wrinkles. The threads can also add volume to the cheeks.

What is the difference between Mono Threads and Barbed Threads?
Mono threads differ from thread lifts which use long barbed threads to lift skin, however, they can still provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production.

There are generally 2 types of PDO threads: short smooth threads or long barb threads. Long barb threads are for lifting and short smooth threads are for collagen stimulation as well as skin thickening, tightening and volumisation.

Long barb threads are commonly used for lifting in the lower face, the jowl line and less commonly in the brow and the neck.

Short smooth threads are most commonly used with needles. But they also come with cannulas for specific areas.
Smooth threads are for collagen stimulation, rather than for lifting.

They are generally used in 2 situations:
1. For treatment of fine wrinkles
2. Collagen induction for tissue support. The most commonly used are the monofilament threads, or monos in short.

Are PDO Mono Threads right for me?

PDO Mono Threads are ideal for improving skin elasticity, skin texture and tightening on specific areas of the face and body.

Topical anaesthetic will be applied before the Mono Thread treatment, so you experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. You may experience a firm feeling and some tenderness in the area that has been treated for a few days after the procedure.

A Mono Thread treatment may produce swelling and bruising in the area that has been treated, these side effects will subside.

You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO Mono Threads will slowly dissolve, you’ll continue to see results for up to 12 months.
